Downtown Vancouver Asset Division Lawyers

Asset Division

At our firm, our Downtown Vancouver divorce lawyers have experience in dividing assets during the divorce process. We work to ensure that you receive what you are rightfully owed. Dividing property can be a complex process, but by thoroughly evaluating what each party owns individually and jointly, we can work towards a fair outcome. In Downtown Vancouver, British Columbia it is especially important to consider the historical value of pre-owned property when determining the distribution of assets following a separation.

If a divorce order is needed, our team can help you navigate the process.

Child support lawyers in Downtown Vancouver

Child Support

Our lawyers can help you protect your child’s right to adequate financial support. It is widely accepted that children are entitled to have the financial resources of both parents available to support them as they grow and develop. While there are many online resources that can provide an estimate of the basic monthly child support obligation under the Federal Child Support Guidelines, our lawyers can help you navigate the process and ensure that your child’s rights are protected.

Spousal Support

With a wealth of experience in Spousal Support Advisory Guidelines, our Downtown Vancouver divorce lawyers can provide clear, easy-to-understand advice about how spousal support will affect your life after separation. Our team is dedicated to helping you navigate this complex area of law and achieve a favourable outcome for your situation.

Premarital and Cohabitation Agreements

Our Downtown Vancouver divorce lawyers can help you determine if a premarital or cohabitation agreement is the right choice for you. These agreements are useful for outlining financial expectations in the event of unforeseen circumstances, such as separation or divorce. Every couple has different needs, so it’s worth considering the benefits of having a written agreement in place. Rather than asking “do I need an agreement?”, you may want to consider “why wouldn’t I have an agreement?”

Divorce lawyers for Downtown Vancouver

Our downtown office at Suite 1215, 650 West Georgia Street is in the middle of the peninsula, a few blocks from the Vancouver Law Courts at 800 Smithe Street. Contested family files for the city are heard there in the BC Supreme Court, so downtown clients are close to both us and the courthouse.

Most family cases at 800 Smithe run under the Supreme Court Family Rules, which set the steps before anything reaches a judge for a decision — filing a notice of family claim, exchanging financial disclosure, and attending a judicial case conference. A lot of files settle at the case-conference stage without a trial. We prepare the disclosure, handle the filings, and represent downtown clients through negotiation or, when it comes to it, a hearing.
